HMT Manganese Test kit
Tests the presence of ions of manganese to a high degree of accuracy to detect contamination in the body and on a wide range of materials in your environment
Manganese is a naturally occurring metal that is found in many types of rocks. Pure manganese is silver-colored, but does not occur naturally. It combines with other substances such as oxygen, sulfur, or chlorine. Manganese can also be combined with carbon to make organic manganese compounds. Common organic manganese compounds include pesticides, such as maneb or mancozeb, and methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT), a fuel additive in some gasolines.
Manganese is an essential trace element and is necessary for good health. Manganese can be found in several food items, including grains and cereals, and is found in high amounts in other foods, such as tea.
Daily intake of small amounts of manganese is needed for growth and good health in children. Manganese is constantly present in the mother and is available to the developing fetus during pregnancy. Manganese is also transferred from a nursing mother to her infant in breast milk at levels that are appropriate for proper development.

Preparation of Test Solutions
- Remove the 3 vials from the large test tube.
- In now empty large test-tube, add 10 ml. of the sample solution to be tested.
- The solution is now ready to be tested
Conducting the test
- Add all the liquid content in the blue cap vial (reagent 1) to the sample solution in the large test tube
- Mix the solutions in the large test tube by tilting it up and down or rolling it. Do not shake the test tube
- Add all the liquid solution in the clear cap vial (reagent 2) to the solutions in the large test tube
- Mix the solutions in the large test tube by tilting it up and down or rolling it. Do not shake the test tube
- Add the liquid solution in the red cap vial (reagent 3) to the solutions in the large test tube
- Mix the solutions in the large test tube by tilting it up and down or rolling it. Do not shake the test tube
- Wait 2 minutes and check the resultant colour of the solution in the test tube to the colour chart provided on the box.
Interference - The presence of the following metals may interfer and affect the result: Chromium (III) above 0.1ppm; chromium (II) above 10ppm, iron, nickel, silver and copper all above 50ppm
Results colour reference (for example only - the numbers indicate parts per million.)
