HMT Aluminium Test kit

Aluminum is probably the least toxic of the metals, although the concern is that it has become so pervasive and is now found in higher levels in human tissues. It is not clear how aluminum interferes with activities in the human body. It may reduce vitamin levels or bind to DNA, and it has been correlated with weakened tissue of the gastrointestinal tract. In Alzheimer's disease, there are increased aluminum levels in the brain tissue and an increase in what are called "neurofibrillary tangles," which tend to reduce nerve synapses and conduction. 

Oral aluminum, as obtained from antacids, can bind pepsin and weaken protein digestion. It also has astringent qualities, and therefore can dry the tissues and mucous linings and contribute to constipation. Regular use of aluminum-containing deodorants may contribute to the clogging of underarm lymphatics and then to breast problems such as cystic disease.

The amount of aluminum in the human body ranges from 50 to 150 mg., with an average of about 65 mg. Most of this metal is found in the lungs, brain, kidneys, liver and thyroid. Our daily intake ranges from 10 to 110 mg but the body will eliminate most of this in our feces, urine and some in sweat.

Toxicity Limits
Organic - A reading under 15-20 ppm is considered normal, but 10-15 ppm, is probably ideal.
Inorganic - Should be 0 ppm

Contents of the HMT Aluminium Test kit

•  Colour strip on box of kit
• 1 Test Instruction Sheet
• 1 Large Test-tube
• 1 vial with blue cap - reagent 1
• 1 vial with clear cap - reagent 2
• 1 vial with yellow cap - reagent 3 (caution contains acid)

Precautions and Storage

The Aluminum Test kit should be stored in a cool place - 12C to 20C .

Preparation of sample solution

1. Remove the the 3 vials from the large test tube.
    
2. In the empty large test-tube, add 5 ml. of the solution to be tested.
    
3. The solution is now ready for testing.

Conducting the test

1. Add content from blue-cap vial (reagent 1) to the large test-tube containing the solution to be tested.
    
2. Close the large test-tube and shake the combined solutions for 2 to 3 minutes;
    
3. Add the content in the clear-cap vial (reagent 2) to the combined solutions in the large test-tube;
    
4. Close the large test-tube and shake;
    
5. Add the content in the yellow-cap vial (reagent 3) to the large test-tube;
    
6. Close the large test-tube and shake;
    
7. Let the large test-tube with all the combined solutions stand for 5 minutes;
    
8. Compare the resultant colour of the combined solution in the large test-tube to the colour strip provided.

Test Interference: The test results can be affected by the presence of ions from beryllium (II), Selenium (IV), Titan (IV), Vanadium (V), Copper, Flouride ions above 0.1 ppm and other elements above 10 ppm in the solution to be tested.
