HMT Cadmium Test kit

Cadmium levels in humans tend to increase with age, usually peaking at around age 50 and then levelling off. No cadmium is present in newborns. Interestingly, cadmium does not cross the placenta-fetal barrier nor the blood-brain barrier as lead and mercury do, so it is not toxic to fetuses, nor does it cause the mental and brain symptoms of lead and mercury 

Cadmium is not very well absorbed, with a rate of about 20 percent, but this is still a higher rate than that of other minerals. Cadmium is not particularly well eliminated by the body, mainly through feces and urine. This mineral is stored primarily in the liver and kidneys. Cadmium like zinc is also stored in the testes in higher concentrations than in other tissues. Cadmium accumulation in the kidneys (with aging) may cause hypertension. 

Contents of the HMT Cadmium Test kit

• 1 Colour strip on box of the kit
• 1 Test Instruction Sheet
• 1 Large Test-tube
• 1 vial with clear cap - Reagent 1
• 1 vial with red cap - Reagent 2 
• 1 vial with yellow cap - Reagent 3

Precautions and Storage

The HMT Cadmium Test kit should be stored in a cool place - 12C to 20C.

Preparation of sample solution

1. Remove the the 3 vials from the large test tube
2. In the empty large test-tube, add 5 ml. of the solution to be tested
3. The solution is now ready for testing

Conducting the test

1. Add all the content from the clear-cap vial (Reagent 1) to the large test-tube containing the solution to be tested
2. Close the large test-tube and shake slightly and gently to mix the solutions. Please be careful not to cause any foam to be formed when shaking
3. Add all the content from the red-cap vial (Reagent 2) to the mixed solutions in the large test-tube
4. Close the large test-tube and shake slightly and gently to mix the solutions. Please be careful not to cause any foam to be formed when shaking
5. Add all the content from the yellow-cap vial (Reagent 3) to the mixed solutions in the large test-tube
6. Close the large test-tube and shake slightly and gently to mix the solutions. Please be careful not to cause any foam to be formed when shaking
7. Wait 2 minutes and compare with colour strip

Test Interference: the test results can be affected by the presence of ions from nickel above 0.1 ppm and Iron (III) and Zinc (II) above 1 ppm and other elements above 10-1,000 ppm in the solution.
